Observation Tower on Mount Barania

Address
district: Czarne

The tower has been built on the highest top in the Polish part of the Silesian Beskid Mountains – Mount Barania (1.220 meters above the sea level). It is a perfect observation point. From the high, steel observation tower one can see a vast panorama of Polish, Czech and Slovak mountains: the Tatry Mountains, the Silesian Beskid Mountains, the Small Beskid Mountains, the Makowski Beskid Mountains. the Zywiecki Beskid Mountains with Mount Babia, Mount Little Fatra, the Choczańskie Mountains, the Strażowskie Mountains , Jaworniki, Silesian – Morawy Beskid and finally, when the visibility is very good it is even possible to see Jesionki in the Sudety Mountains.

The tower is 15.25 meters high and it has a capacity of about 20 people. The owner of the tower is Polish Tourist Society in Katowice. In spite of lightning protection it is not allowed to climb the tower in storm.

You can get to the tower from several directions: from Kamesznica, Kubalonka Pass, Węgierska Górka, Skrzyczne, Wisła Czarne and from Zwardon. The most popular is a very beautiful blue route from Wisła Czarne along the picturesque valley of the White Vistula River. It takes 2.5 hours to get to the top of the mountain. On the way there is a very nice resting area – a tourist shelter on Przysłop meadow. The upper parts of the mountain and the Vistula River sources area belong to the nature reserve ‘Mount Barania).
