The amphitheatre is situated in the centre of Wisła between the Hoff Square and the sidewalk along the Vistula River. It has undergone a very serious reconstruction and today it has a very nice roofing and much more comfortable seats, there are also plenty of cafés and little restaurants around it. The amphitheatre is the place where most of shows and performances are held, among them the most popular is The Week of Beskid Culture – one of the biggest and the oldest folk festivals in Europe. There are about 2.500 seats in the amphitheatre.
In the very middle of the amphitheatre, on one of the seats you can see a statue of the patron of the amphitheatre – Mr. Stanisław Hadyna. His life and work were very closely connected with Wisła – his mother was born here, he built his house in Wisła, he was awarded with the honorary citizenship of Wisła and finally he was buried in the protestant graveyard in Groniczek in Wisła. He was a composer, a director, a musician and a writer. He was the creator of one of the most popular song and dance ensemble in Poland – ‘ Silesia ‘ and he was the artist manager of the ensemble for a very long time.
