The oak was planted near the Statue of the Vistula River Source on 13 June, 2014 by Mr. Bronisław Komorowski - the president of Poland. Altogether the president has planted 25 oaks of freedom and one of them is in the place where the Queen of Polish Rivers – the Vistula River has its sources.
The planting of the oaks of freedom was a joint project of the President’s Office and the State Forests Bureau and its aim was to commemorate the 25th anniversary of regaining sovereignty by our country in the general election on 4 June, 1989. Oaks, seen in our country as symbols of strength and longevity, were planted in several places of Poland on that occasion.
